NASWA SIDESUnemployment Insurance State Information Data Exchange System (UI SIDES)

What is UI SIDES

As part of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies’ (NASWA) workforce development services, the organization offers the State Information Data Exchange System (SIDES) as a service. Employers and UI agencies can exchange information regarding UI claims electronically through the Unemployment Insurance (UI) SIDES system.

Through SIDES’ six exchanges, unemployment claim information is processed in a fast, accurate, and secure manner. States, employers, TPAs, and PEOs all benefit from SIDES.

Why is UI SIDES important

The Unemployment Insurance Integrity Act signed by President Obama in 2011 increased the risk of employers facing fines and penalties. It was enacted as part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Extension Act of 2011 in order to increase penalties for late and inaccurate employer submissions.

A partnership between the US Department of Labor and state workforce agencies led to the creation of SIDES. This system was designed to simplify and streamline requests for unemployment insurance information. SIDES is integrated with UTMC’s Case Management System and our experts ensure that each request is handled timely and appropriately.
